What a Heat Pump Maintenance Visit Covers

A thorough maintenance visit typically includes component inspection, refrigerant level checks, coil cleaning, electrical connection checks, and defrost cycle testing. The defrost cycle prevents ice buildup on the outdoor unit during cold weather and is easy to overlook but critical for winter performance. EPA Refrigerant Rules & Your Existing Heat Pump

Under the EPA’s AIM Act, new residential heat pumps manufactured after January 1, 2025, use lower global-warming-potential A2L refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32 rather than R-410A. If you have an existing R-410A system, you don’t need to replace it. The rule change applies to new equipment manufacturing, not to servicing systems already installed. Your system can still be legally serviced and refilled.

What it does mean is that technicians working across both refrigerant generations need training specific to A2L handling alongside standard refrigerant certification. Our team keeps that training current, so whether your system uses R-410A or a newer refrigerant, maintenance work accounts for the specific requirements of what’s actually in your unit.

Con Edison Clean Heat Incentives for Westchester County

Con Edison’s Clean Heat program offers up to $11,000 in incentives toward replacing a heating and cooling system with an air-source heat pump. Incentives are applied by a participating contractor and subtracted directly from your project invoice rather than paid out separately, so there’s no waiting on a rebate check.

We work directly with Con Edison and the Clean Heat program, which means we can walk you through what you may qualify for and handle the paperwork on our end.
